Kiawah Island Golf Resort Open Following Historic Rains

Kiawah Island Golf Resort - South Carolina

Although historic rainfall deluged all of South Carolina last weekend, the popular meetings destination Kiawah Island is drying out and open for business, according to Kiawah Island Golf Resort, which resumed normal operations on Wednesday after receiving upwards of 24 inches of rain over a three-day period between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4.

Throughout the rain, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, the resort's oceanfront hotel and spa, the Villa Resort at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, remained open to take care of guests and island residents, as did three of the resort's restaurants. The resort's remaining restaurants reopened Wednesday along with the resort's East Beach Tennis Center, all pool complexes, and the resort's nature tours.

All five of the resort's golf courses reopened yesterday. Conditions are "wet" but "playable," according to the resort.

"We came through this storm in remarkable shape considering the amount of rain we experienced over a 72-hour period," said Roger Warren, president of Kiawah Island Golf Resort. "The entire staff of Kiawah Island Golf Resort has gone above and beyond in both taking care of guests during difficult conditions and in getting the resort back in shape for future guests."
