Kalahari Resorts and Conventions is now accepting reservations for its newest property, opening next summer in Pocono Mountains, Pa., it announced last week.
The first East Coast location for Kalahari -- which currently operates waterpark resorts and conference centers in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., and Sandusky, Ohio -- Kalahari Resorts Pocono Mountains will be Pennsylvania's largest indoor waterpark. Totaling 150 acres, it will be completed in two phases, the first of which will include 457 guest rooms, three full-service restaurants, a 100,000-square-foot waterpark, a seasonal outdoor waterpark, and a 65,000-square-foot conference center.
Phase two eventually will add 400 more guest rooms, expand the indoor waterpark by 100,000 square feet, and increase the outdoor water park's size by two to three acres.
"Kalahari is thrilled to bring our authentic African resort experience to the East Coast," Todd Nelson, owner and president of Kalahari Resorts, said upon announcing the resort in fall 2013. "As the Pocono Mountains property begins construction, we look forward to contributing to the local economy and sharing our beyond expectations approach to hospitality with area vacation goers, conference attendees, and local guests throughout the Pocono region."
