Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of its newest property, a 10-story, 283-suite Embassy Suites hotel in Norman, Okla. The new hotel, which features an adjacent conference center, will be managed by Hammons and had already booked $3 million in pre-opening sales as of last month.
"Norman represents a compelling opportunity with several indicators for future growth that mandate quality hotel and meeting accommodations to help foster that growth," Hammons Founder, Chairman and CEO John Q. Adjacent to the Embassy Suites Norman is a conference center that's expected to attract a significant amount of business from the nearby University of Oklahoma, which enrolls nearly 30,000 students. Together, the conference center and hotel will offer 80,000 square feet of meting space for up to 2,900 attendees.
"We're experiencing tremendous attention from associations, corporations and the university, as reflected by our strong pre-opening sales that run through 2009," General Manager Jim Rickards said. "In addition, we've found great talent from the area to help fill the 200 positions our facilities require in providing exceptional service."
