JW Marriott Seoul Completes Renovation

The eight-month project transformed the property

JW Marriott Seoul is open after an extensive eight-month renovation of the entire property. This transformation includes the JW Marriott Seoul's 379 guest rooms (including two multi-level penthouses and 32 suites), restaurants and bars, and more than 15,700 square feet of meeting space.

The hotel, which made its initial debut in 2000, was Marriott International's first luxury property in Korea -- centrally located in the business and entertainment district of Gangnam, and close to the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX) and the World Trade Center. The hotel is now also directly linked to Shinsegae department store, the newly opened duty-free shop and three lines of Seoul Metro.

"The relaunch of JW Marriott Seoul signifies an exciting milestone for the JW Marriott brand," said Mitzi Gaskins, vice president and global brand manager of JW Marriott, in a statement. "We are thrilled to reintroduce JW Marriott Seoul to both domestic and international travelers and provide them with the highest level of luxury service and amenities in this captivating city."

The property's meeting space can accommodate up to 1,000 people and includes an 8,245-square-foot grand ballroom that spans two levels and features glass walls overlooking the mountains of Seoul. The ballroom features wired and wireless Internet, translation booth, a movable stage and advanced lighting and sound system. Four additional meeting and banquet rooms that can be linked to the grand ballroom include the latest A/V equipment, built-in motorized projection screens, liquid crystal displays and projectors.

The hotel's restaurants, cafés and bars now boast haute cuisine, including Margaux Grill, offering a list of 1,400 fine wines -- one of the most extensive collections in Seoul. Other highlights include Tamayura, an authentic Japanese restaurant, that includes a Western-style teppanyaki counter and authentic tea bar as well as MOBO Bar.

Spanning three floors, JW Marriott Seoul's new fitness club includes state-of-the-art exercise equipment, an 85-meter jogging track, indoor golf zone, squash court, basketball court, swimming pool, scuba diving pool, jacuzzi, cabanas and sauna. Special areas are designated for those interested in well-being practices including Ayurvedic remedies, meditation and healing.
