Seoul, South Korea’s second JW Marriott hotel, the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul, has opened in the city’s fashion district, Marriott International announced yesterday.
“South Korea is a one of Asia’s fastest growing global economies and a strategically important North Asian travel hub,” Simon Cooper, president and managing director of Asia Pacific for Marriott International, said in a statement. “JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul will further strengthen our luxury brand portfolio in this very important market and it will complement our existing JW Marriott Seoul which continues to be a great standard bearer for the brand.”
Seoul’s first LEED Gold-certified hotel, the property has 170 guest rooms, including 19 Executive-Level rooms and 15 Executive-Level suites; a dedicated Executive-Level lounge with an open balcony; an indoor pool; a fitness center; a spa; two restaurants; a lounge; a bakery; and 10,570 square feet of meeting space.
“With every new JW Marriott property, we challenge ourselves to go above and beyond, and opening the first LEED Gold certified hotel in Seoul is a major accomplishment for the brand,” said Mitzi Gaskins, vice president and global brand manager for JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts. “Not only is respecting and preserving the environment important to us, it is important to our guests, and we’re excited to bring that to life in Seoul.”
