JW Marriott Marquis Opens in Downtown Miami

The new JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Miami, originally scheduled to open this summer, debuted in downtown Miami on Nov. 5, Marriott International announced this month.

The new hotel has 313 guest rooms and over 80,000 square feet of meeting space — including a 20,000-square-foot grand ballroom and 32 meeting rooms, as well as a Virtual Meetings by JW Marriott public telepresence facility that's powered by AT&T and Cisco — not to mention a full-service spa and two entertainment levels that include a golf school, a billiards room and a 10,000-square-foot basketball court.

"The JW Marriott Miami Marquis epitomizes the very best of the JW Marriott brand, one of the world's fastest growing luxury brands," said Marriott Chairman and CEO J.W. Marriott Jr. "We are confident that this unique and visually stunning hotel will become a landmark in downtown Miami attracting travelers and groups from all over the world."

According to Marriott International, JW Marriott properties offer "accomplished travelers" a luxury travel experience with a "distinct sense of place that appropriately reflects the genuine flavor of their surroundings." The Marquis designation is reserved for select downtown properties within the JW Marriott portfolio that offer the "highest levels of comfort, technology, personal service, meeting facilities, privacy and world class amenities."

The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Miami is Marriott's first JW property to received the "Marquis" designation.
