Planners considering Singapore for their next meeting or incentive now have more than 60 additional reasons to consider the Southeast Asian city-state. The Singapore Tourism Board
has launched a new program aimed at attracting group travel to the destination by offering 63 complimentary experiences tailored for groups, from historic tours to cocktail-making classes.
Called In Singapore Incentives & Rewards
(Inspire), the global program reflects a partnership between the tourism agency and 29 local Singapore businesses and aims to highlight the destination's myriad attractions. This launch extends the existing Inspire program, offered to specific regions and Southeast Asia, opening it up globally to corporate groups in the Americas, North Asia, Oceania and beyond.
"Together with local businesses in Singapore, STB has curated a selection of group experiences from dining to social networking, from attractions to thematic tours, as well as unforgettable team-building experiences, all tailored with the MICE visitors' profile in mind," said Melissa Ow, deputy chief executive of the Singapore Tourism Board. "These incentives have been designed to complement groups' itineraries and provide exclusive experiences that showcase the best of what Singapore has to offer."
Ow pointed to the destination's recent strong performance in attracting meeting, convention and incentive groups, with more than 2.9 million MICE visitors in 2018, a 12.1 percent increase over the year before.
The program caters to small and midsize groups, with 63 distinct team-building and attraction-based experiences under four broad categories: dining, entertainment and nightlife, thematic tours and learning experiences. For example, groups can create bespoke cocktails using herbs found in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Tech-focused organizations can tour the destination's One North area (Singapore's answer to Silicon Valley). Those looking for entertainment can enjoy an after-hours Garden Rhapsody light show at Gardens by the Bay.
The Inspire program is open to meetings and incentive groups traveling to Singapore between Sept. 10, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2021. Applicants must have a minimum of 20 foreign attendees and stay for at least three days in Singapore. Interested groups should register their interest by March 31, 2021, and can learn more here
