The newest InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property will open this summer in New York's Times Square, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced last month.
The hotel, the InterContinental New York Times Square, will open in July with 36 stories, 607 guest rooms, and 10 meeting rooms totaling 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting space — including a 4,000-square-foot ballroom and 25 flexible suites that can be utilized as event space.
"Opening the largest new-build hotel in the New York City market since 2002—especially in this economy—is a tremendous milestone and the result of working with the right owners to put the right hotel brand in the right location," IHG Americas President Jim Abrahamson said in a statement. "By leveraging the global strength of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand and the scale of IHG, the InterContinental New York Times Square will be in a prime position this summer to attract both international and domestic business, conference and leisure travelers."
Upon completion, the InterContinental New York Times Square plans to seek LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, making it the largest new-build hotel in New York to receive a LEED designation. Among its green features will be a green roof, large windows that maximize natural day lighting and an energy-efficient elevator system.
Additional amenities include an onsite restaurant from celebrity chef Todd English, a concierge lounge, and 24-hour business and fitness centers.
