Indiana CVB Targets Faith-Based Convention Business

Having met with more than 20 meeting planners in Virginia Beach, Va., last month at the annual Rejuvenate Marketplace for religious meeting planners, tourism officials in Bloomington, Ind., have decided to actively pursue group business from faith-based organizations, the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention and Visitors Bureau recently announced.

"I'm thrilled to be working with faith-based meeting planners and have been very excited to show them what a wonderful community Bloomington is," Erin Erdmann, the Bloomington CVB's convention sales manager, said in a statement. "Since many of these planners haven't worked with us in the past, it's also exciting to show them what types of services we offer and what we can do to ensure they have a successful event in our city."

According to Erdmann, the Bloomington CVB returned from Rejuvenate with RFPs from at least 10 faith-based meeting planners, who have asked the CVB to submit bids to host future meetings.

In order to secure even more requests in concert with its new focus, the CVB plans to attend the Religious Conference Management Association tradeshow next year in Grand Rapids, Mich.
