Hyatt Regency Washington Begins Ballroom Transformation

The Hyatt Regency Washington in Washington, D.C., has commenced a $7.5 million renovation of its ballroom and meeting space, it announced this month.

Scheduled for completion in January 2011, the project encompasses 30,000 square feet of event space, which will be updated with new décor to match the appearance of the hotel's recently remodeled lobby. According to a statement from the hotel, "The décor will be rich with luxurious finishes featuring dark walnut woodwork, custom chandeliers and wall sconces, gold tone wall coverings and custom wool carpeting."

The renovation also will include the installation of new technology, including four 52-inch and two 70-inch LCD screens that will engage visitors as they descend from the lobby to the ballroom level, providing an "energizing, hi-tech invitation to any event."

The ballroom project is the final in a series of remodels at the downtown D.C. hotel, which has invested more than $30 million into renovations over the past six years.
