One of Atlanta's most popular hotels, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, has started work on more than $15 million in upgrades to its guestrooms and meeting space, it recently announced. Scheduled for completion in early 2009, the renovations will give the hotel more stylish accommodations and more varied meeting options.
"Hyatt Regency Atlanta constantly strives to reinvent itself and take guest service to the next level," General Manager Joe Hindsley said in a statement. "We hope to exceed guest expectations with these improvements and renovation projects."
First up among the Hyatt's scheduled improvements are $9 million in upgrades to 310 guestrooms in its International Tower, which will include new carpeting, wall coverings, furnishings, drapes, lighting, closets and artwork, as well as new 37-inch LCD televisions. Rooms' bathrooms will also get makeovers thanks to new mirrors and lighting, as well as the installation of new sinks, floors, low flush toilets and energy-saving thermostats.
Also being renovated is the hotel's 9,150-square-foot International Ballroom, which will get new carpet, wall coverings, lighting and chandeliers, as well as new sound and audio/visual systems.
Finally, at a cost of $2.6 million, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta's 40,000-square-foot Grand Hall—one of Atlanta's largest hotel exhibit halls—will get new finishes throughout, as well as new doors, re-designed entries and four brand new 1,500-square-foot break-out rooms. When it's combined with the hotel's adjacent 10,104-square-foot Hanover Hall, the revised Grand Hall will give the Hyatt 54,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space—the most of any hotel in Atlanta, it says.
