Discover Los Angeles and VisitHouston, the CVBs of the two cities currently battling it out in baseball's World Series, have placed a friendly bet over which city will emerge victorious.
What's up for grabs? Social media channels. If the Los Angeles Dodgers win, they will temporarily take over the Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram feeds of VisitHouston. If the Houston Astros win, they will do the same on Discover Los Angeles' feeds.
The Series is currently tied at one-one. The Dodgers are predicted to win the Series, but many are pulling for the Astros, especially after the devastation Hurricane Harvey inflicted on Houston.
Politicians from each state have gotten in on the friendly wagering too. On Tuesday, California Senator Kamala Harris tweeted at Texas Senator Ted Cruz, "Hey @TedCruz - when the @Dodgers bring that trophy home to the Golden State, lunch is on you, right? #WorldSeries2017." To which Senator Cruz replied: "Looking forward to enjoying some of CA's finest food courtesy of @SenKamalaHarris once the @Astros beat the @Dodgers in the #WorldSeries.
Given that Los Angeles and Houston are both great meetings destinations, Successful Meetings is taking no official World Series position.
