Holiday Inn Opening As Hospitality Classroom in Fort Wayne, Ind.

A new Holiday Inn is scheduled to open this week in Fort Wayne, Ind. Located near Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), the Holiday Inn at IPFW will serve as a hands-on classroom for the university's hospitality students, who'll be trained in all facets of hotel management.

"We're very excited with the partnership with IPFW," the hotel's general manager, Rob Evans, recently told local news media. "We have a classroom right here in the hotel so these students can learn firsthand the good, the bad and the great about our industry."

According to Evans, hotel staff will serve as mentors to hospitality students, who'll study in a separate wing of the hotel that features its own separate entrance, kitchen and classroom.

Also notable, the hotel—Fort Wayne's first new full-service hotel in 20 years—is the first property to sport Holiday Inn's new decorating scheme, sign and logo.

A model for future Holiday Inn hotels, The Holiday Inn at IPFW features six floors, 151 guestrooms and two meeting rooms for up to 335 attendees.

"Much like the windshield of a car looks forward," Evans said in a recent statement, "the new look for this Holiday Inn is a forward vision of the chain's look for the future."
