Hilton to Open Istanbul's Largest Hotel, Conference Center

Hilton Worldwide has unveiled plans to build a new Hilton hotel and conference center in the Sisli district of Istanbul, Turkey, which is currently undergoing restoration to become the focal point of a new visitor hub with extensive entertainment, dining and retail facilities, it announced last week.

The hotel, the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center, will have 829 guest rooms inside a new 35-story tower, making it the largest hotel in the city by number of rooms and size of meeting space.

"We are delighted to have signed a management agreement to open a landmark new Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in Istanbul," said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide. "Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center is set to be the largest hotel under development in the city by number of rooms and size of meeting space, providing Istanbul with a world-class conference facility which we expect will attract new international conference business to the city. Our pipeline in Turkey goes from strength to strength, with 41 hotels either trading or under development, and this latest announcement is testament to Hilton Worldwide's strong presence in a country we have been proudly operating in since 1955."

Added Serhat Çeçen, board member of IC Bomonti Uluslararasi Kongre Turizm Yatirimlari Ticaret A.S, the hotel's owner, "We are very excited to be spearheading the investment in this iconic property, which is set to become the largest landmark hotel in the center of Istanbul. Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center will be one of the biggest branded hotels in Europe and will be the jewel in the crown of our own hotel portfolio and I am delighted that we are partnering with Hilton Worldwide and their world-renowned Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to manage the hotel on our behalf. Hilton Worldwide has demonstrated a serious commitment and ability to make this spectacular project a great success in one of Europe's fastest growing and most exciting destinations."

Neither a groundbreaking nor an opening date for the new hotel has been announced.
