Hilton Hotels hosted its premiere client event, The Hilton American Classic, in New Orleans this past September.

Each year Hilton and American Airlines partner to produce the Hilton American Classic which showcases a different destination through a combination of speakers and entertainment, leisure activities, hospitality, industry education and culinary experiences.

Over 175 association executive directors, corporate travel executives and third party business owners, who collectively represent over $100 million in annual room night revenue potential, participated in this year’s Hilton American Classic. The event was held at the Hilton New Orleans’ Riverside which holds the distinction of being New Orleans largest hotel with 1,616 guest rooms and over 130,000 square feet of meeting space.

The property recently completed a comprehensive $40 million dollar renovation that included a refurbishment of all function space, which now features a unified traditional European style, as well as the redesign of the front desk check in area and the Porte Cochere entrance of the hotel.

In addition, the hotel’s business center has been relocated to the lobby level and the River Blends Café will be expanded as a Starbucks coffee venue. Capping off the renovation was the recent approval of a license agreement that will provide a Drago’s Seafood Restaurant on the lobby level of the hotel as of spring 2007.

Customer reaction to the Hilton American Classic was overwhelmingly positive both for the hotel and the host city. Among the comments from departing attendees were the following: “The Hilton team in New Orleans outdid themselves…your outstanding and committed support for the rebirth of New Orleans touched many of us, and I know I’ll personally do whatever I can to influence conferences once again in that magical, mystical city,” as well as, “thanks for including me in the most hospitable weekend that I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of. It was spectacular in every way.”
