Hilton Austin Prepares for Visitor Influx With $23 Million Renovation

Thanks to its vibrant culture and its thriving music and food scenes, people are visiting Austin, TX, in droves. To prepare for the influx of travelers, including meeting groups, the Hilton Austin in downtown Austin has commenced a $23 million renovation encompassing its lobby, restaurants, and meeting space, it announced this week.

Beginning in May and continuing through the end of the year, the project will be completed in phases. The first phase, completed by mid-summer, will update the hotel's lobby by incorporating small, intimate social zones; designated workspaces; a new digital media wall; and locally inspired décor.

The second phase, scheduled for completion in late summer, will include the opening of two new restaurants: Cannon + Belle will have a multi-station open kitchen, an indoor biergarten, a specialty tap wine and cocktail program, and a "Texas-fresh" menu, while The Reverbery will be an indoor/outdoor concept inspired by an Austin recording studio, serving food and drinks that reflect the city's unique culinary culture.

Finished in early fall will be an update to the hotel's 80,000 square feet of meeting space, all of which will be refreshed with new aesthetics and décor.

The renovation's final phase, opening in late fall, will include a new 3,000-square-foot Starbucks serving wine, beer, small plates, and desserts in the evenings, and Austin Taco Project, specializing in craft beer and fusion tacos.

The 801-key hotel already completed a $23 million guest room renovation in 2014, which was preceded by a $1 million refurbishment of its eighth-floor pool deck and bar in 2013.

"This year is going to be an exciting year for our hotel," said General Manager Robert Watson. "When we complete this endeavor, Hilton Austin will reflect the true culture and vibe of our city. These additions and improvements will also give us fresh and creative ways to meet the ever-changing needs of our guests and remind them where they are at every turn."
