Hard Rock International has unveiled plans to open its second hotel and casino in the Dominican Republic, it announced this week.
Scheduled to open in late 2017 in the country's capital city, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Santo Domingo will have 400 guest rooms, a 23,000-square-foot casino, a screening room, and a nightclub opening up to its main swimming pool. It also will have 33,000 square feet of meeting space, a spa, a gym, and several bars and restaurants, including a cigar lounge and a celebrity chef-led concept.
Although Hard Rock's other Dominican property, in Punta Cana, is all-inclusive, its Santo Domingo collaboration won't be.
"The Dominican Republic is the region's most visited country and continues to be the top performing destination in the Caribbean. In fact, the country received 19 percent of the record number of 26.3 million visitors to the Caribbean region in 2014," said Nelson Parker, vice president of casino development, Hard Rock International. "The decision to bring a full-service hotel and the brand's second Caribbean casino to the Dominican Republic is a testament to the country's remarkable strength in tourism."
