Hard Rock International will break ground on its first New York hotel, Hard Rock Hotel New York, this year.

Located on 48th Street between 7th Avenue and Avenue of the Americas -- an area of Times Square previously known as "Music Row" for its instrument stores, repair shops, and sheet music emporiums -- the new-build hotel will open in spring 2019 with 445 guest rooms, a signature restaurant and lounge, a lobby bar, an underground speakeasy, and a rooftop hosting artist sessions and DJ sets.

Other offerings will include a spa, a fitness center, and a program for guests to rent a Fender guitar or DJ equipment for their room. Hard Rock has not yet indicated whether the property will include meeting space.

"We're both proud and eager to showcase the Hard Rock Hotels experience in New York City, a destination whose spirit and limitless energy aligns perfectly with our brand," said Hard Rock International CEO Hamish Dodds. "With Hard Rock Hotel New York being an entirely new build project, we are able to develop a hotel with customized amenities and programming that will deliver a one-of-a-kind music experience tailored for New York City."

Adding to that music experience will be museum-like displays adorning the walls of the hotel, with memorabilia focusing on contemporary New York artists and moments in history that have shaped the city's musical legacy.
