Denver's Cherry Creek Welcomes First New Hotel in a Decade

Halcyon Hotel - Denver - Cherry Creek

Developers Sage Hospitality and BMC Investments have opened Halycon, an independent hotel in Denver's chic Cherry Creek shopping district, they announced last week. The 154-room hotel -- which has a rooftop bar and pool, two restaurants, and 6,500 square feet of meeting space for events of up to 300 guests -- is Cherry Creek's first new hotel in a decade.

"There has not been a new hotel built in this neighborhood for more than 13 years and there was a distinct need for a modern luxury, independent hotel that truly evokes everything that is Cherry Creek," said Matt Joblon, principal and CEO of BMC Investments. "This part of Denver is evolving so fast in so many positive ways, that it needed a hotel like this as an anchor."

Along with the aforementioned amenities, Halcyon leverages Colorado's love for the outdoors by offering an onsite "Gear Garage" program that will help guests experience Denver in unique ways. For example, offerings include complimentary e-bikes and Vespa scooters that guests can borrow for exploring nearby downtown Denver, as well as long boards, GoPro cameras, day packs, binoculars, and fly-fishing gear for those taking excursions to the Rocky Mountains.

Other unique services include complimentary transportation in the hotel's house car -- a Range Rover -- a turntable with a curated vinyl collection and a "Kitchen Counter" where guests can enjoy complimentary coffee, beer, wine, and snacks as if they were staying with a friend who gave them permission to raid his or her refrigerator.

"Halcyon is that friend's incredible house in Colorado you've always wanted to visit," said General Manager Cindy Bedan. "Guests who enter our hotel will feel the cultured comfort of the neighborhood and we could not be more excited to bring these elements of Cherry Creek's character to life for all to enjoy."
