The Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA) has chosen Cleveland to host next year’s HCEA Annual Meeting, taking place June 21-24, 2014, Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. — manager of the newly opened Cleveland Convention Center
— reported this week.
“The new Cleveland Convention Center, with its state-of-the-art capabilities and easy access to downtown Cleveland attractions and local manufacturers, offers all of the amenities for the [HCEA] conference,” says Tony Prusak, senior director of sales, Cleveland Convention Center. “Our facility has been designed specifically to host this type of health care industry meeting, incorporating exhibits, educational programming, social activities and general sessions with direct access to the adjacent Global Center for Health Innovation.”
HCEA, which met in New Orleans in 2010, Las Vegas in 2011, Orlando in 2012 and Austin in 2013, will utilize 75,000 gross square feet of exhibit space and 1,500 group hotel room nights for approximately 700 attendees who are responsible for booking more than 3 million room nights per year for their respective organizations.
“The economic impact of the 2014 HCMA Annual Meeting will be felt throughout the community,” says David Gilbert, president of Positively Cleveland, the city’s convention and visitors bureau. “Attendees invested in the health care industry will have a firsthand experience of the overall great health care presence that our city offers as one of the world’s leading medical communities while filling Cleveland’s restaurants, attractions and other amenities that are within walking distance of the new Cleveland Convention Center.”
