Florida real estate developer Glenn Straub purchased the former Revel casino on April 9 and is now in a legal battle with ACR, the building's power supplier. Last Thursday, ACR shut off electricity and hot and cold water to the building after failing to reach an agreement with Straub over costs. Straub plans to get power from the former Showboat Casino, which he is attempting to buy from Stockton University. (Stockton is currently in the midst of its own battle with Trump Entertainment, which is trying to block the opening of a college on the Showboat property.)
When Revel opened in the spring of 2012, it changed the Atlantic City skyline and brought a new wave of excitement to the city's Northeast Inlet section. The $2.4 billion resort features more than 1,100 guest rooms, 46 retail shops, 12 restaurants, three clubs, a 31,000 square foot spa, two theaters, a 30,000 square foot meeting center, a 150,000 square foot casino and 90,000 square feet of outdoor hospitality space including a private beach, outdoor garden, and cabana area.
