The Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will unveil its newest meeting venue, a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront ballroom, in January 2010, it recently announced.
The new ballroom, which is part of a $50 million renovation at the 650-room resort, will be able to accommodate nearly 1,000 attendees theater-style and more than 450 school room-style.
Even larger than its capacity, however, is the room's wow factor, according the hotel, as it features an entire wall made of glass that looks out onto the resort's private beach and, beyond that, the Atlantic Ocean.
"The oceanfront ballroom at Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa will be the only meeting and event space of its kind in South Florida," General Manager James Mauer said in a statement. "We're taking advantage of our pristine, prime beach location to provide guests with a unique setting for weddings, corporate meetings and other social or business events."
In earlier phases of its renovation, the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa completed a $25 million makeover of its guest rooms, an expansion of its spa's fitness center and an upgrade to its ocean terrace, which is adjacent to the new ballroom and now features new fire pits and cabana seating.
