Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is opening a luxury hotel in Taiyuan, a historic city in Northern China and the capital of Shanxi Province, in 2014. The hotel will be situated along the Fen River and within walking distance of the new central business district. There are nearby convention and exhibition facilities, as well as a new major sports center currently under construction. The hotel will have 330 guestrooms and suites, 3,500 square meters of function space, including a 1,500-square-meter ballroom, and a Willow Stream Spa.
“China is a key market for the global expansion of our company, to support our hotels within the country as well as to create brand awareness with Chinese international travelers,” says Chris Cahill, president, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. “The addition of Taiyuan allows us to continue building synergies in the region, particularly in Northern China and to become part of an exciting new chapter of this historic city, with partners who are leading the development of this emerging new business district.”
Fairmont Taiyuan joins Fairmont Beijing, China; Fairmont Jakarta, Indonesia (2014); Fairmont Makati, Philippines (2012); Fairmont Nanjing, China (2012); Fairmont Peace Hotel, Shanghai, China; Fairmont Singapore and Fairmont Yangcheng Lake, China.
