Embassy Suites in the Works for Denver

A 403-room Embassy Suites is slated to open directly across from the Denver Convention Center in December, its future manager, Santa Monica, Calif.-based Windsor Capital Group, announced last week.

The centerpiece of the new-build hotel's design will be the 13-story glass curtain sky lobby/atrium. Other amenities for the project, which is targeting LEED certification, include 21,000 square feet of meeting and event space—including 17 function rooms—a business center, retail outlets, an onsite restaurant, a spa, and indoor pool and fitness facilities.

"This hotel is in a prime location and our convention groups will be very excited about this addition to our skyline," Rachel Benedick, vice president of sales for VISIT DENVER, Denver's convention and visitors bureau, said in a statement.

Added Rich Parks, vice president of WPM Construction, the hotel's builder, "When Hilton took the previous Embassy Suites out of the system in downtown Denver, the upper-upscale Hilton brands were underrepresented, creating a 'perfect storm' for a new Embassy Suites hotel to drive an index premium against its competitive set in the upper-upscale segment."
