Eduardo Chaillo on the G20 Summit in Mexico

Q. How do you feel the success of the G20 Summit may have impacted people's perceptions of Los Cabos?

With the addition of the state-of-the-art Los Cabos Convention Center and the globally prestigious brands already existing in the destination, together with the increasing connectivity options, now we will be able to promote Los Cabos as a key player also for world congresses and bigger events.

Q. What kind of meetings offerings and amenities was Los Cabos able to show off with such a high-profile event?

Telecommunications and fiber-optic capabilities were very well showcased during the G20 Summit. The major airport renovations as well as the road infrastructure improvements demonstrated the commitment of the government as well as the private sector toward this international destination. Additionally, the messages sent regarding the importance of sustainable practices both in the convention center (it has the largest green wall in the world as well as solar panels) and the different properties and players, were instrumental even in the content of the G20 declaration.

Q. How do you feel about the fact that the Leaders' Declaration included such vocal support for travel and tourism?

Not only am I pleased personally, but the fact that Mexico influenced the content of such a powerful declaration regarding both travel and tourism represents a huge responsibility for the future of our sector, both from the private and public perspectives. Also, the legacy of this important summit will impact local and regional communities for a long time.
