Planning successful congresses and conventions is just as important to Dr. Jorge Bisteni-Bustani, director general of B.P. Servimed, one of Mexico's largest professional conference organizations, as is demonstrating to the world that Mexico remains a prime convention destination. Successful Meetings asked him a few questions about planning meetings and conferences in Mexico.
SM: What makes Mexico a viable destination for meetings groups?
JBB: The quality of the service, low costs, the people are hospitable, the weather is nice, outstanding hotels, direct flights from many countries of the world, 0% VAT for international groups held in Mexico.
SM: What do you stress to groups having meetings in Mexico?
JBB: They will have nice places to meet, excellent service, at very low costs.
SM: Anything groups should keep in mind when planning meetings and incentives in Mexico?
JBB: They will have better services for less money. The entry to the country is easy for groups coming from North America and West Europe and most of Central and South America countries. I think that for the USA groups, Mexico is the logical destination outside the United States, because they will find meeting professionals holding the CMP and some other certifications who are capable of understanding all the needs of a successful meeting.
