Dominican Republic - March 15, 2006 - The Dominican Republic (DR) announces the release of its new interactive website, www.godominicanrepublic.com. Developed to assist the rapidly growing number of visitors to the country while educating about developments within the country's tourism infrastructure, the website will be the source for up-to-date information about the DR.
"With the DR's recent growth in tourism it was essential to develop a website that will grow with us and our visitors' need for information," said Luis Simo, Vice Minister of Tourism. "The website's new design makes navigation simple while providing more content about the country than has ever been available in one place."
Among the features of the new site is a section entitled "planning your trip," offering useful advice and information on everything from airlines to activities, a "things to do" section detailing the DR's range of activities and a media room with access to the DR's full press kit and a convenient media request-for-information form.
Rich in history, the Dominican Republic's first tourist was Christopher Columbus in 1492. Since then, it has developed into a diverse destination offering both Dominican and European flavors. At 10,000 feet, the Dominican Republic is home to the highest point in the Caribbean. It also features some of the best golf courses and beaches in the world, the largest marina in the Caribbean and is a chosen escape for celebrities, couples and families.
