United Kingdom-based InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to open an $11.5 million Crowne Plaza hotel in America's heartland. Located in Bloomington-Normal, Ill., the 160-room hotel will open in the fourth quarter of 2008 in the space formerly occupied by a Holiday Inn. When it does, it will feature extensive renovations designed to attract local businesses in need of corporate meeting space.
"We are looking forward to joining Bloomington's flourishing community right in the heart of the business district," Gina LaBarre, vice president of brand management for Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, the Americas, said in a statement. "The hotel's expansive meeting and banquet spaces will be an excellent resources for the numerous corporations located nearby."
In addition to a 24-hour fitness center, indoor pool, business center, restaurant and lounge, the new Crowne Plaza Bloomington-Normal will feature over 9,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. To complement that space, the hotel will offer Crowne Plaza's signature comprehensive meetings package, which includes a two-hour response guarantee, the assistance of a Crowne Meetings Director and a Daily Meetings Debrief.
Owned by Normal Hospitality LLC and managed by Global Hotel Management, both based in Normal, Ill., the Crowne Plaza Bloomington-Normal is just one of more than 1,600 hotels presently in IHG's global development pipeline.
