Cosmopolitan Partners With Marriott in Advance of Vegas Opening

Hoping to stimulate bookings in advance of its Dec. 15 opening, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas — the Strip's newest casino-resort-hotel — has joined the Autograph Collection, Marriott International's portfolio of luxury independent hotels and resorts, Marriott announced last week.

The Cosmopolitan, which will have 2,995 guest rooms within two 50-story towers — not to mention a 110,000-square-foot casino, three swimming pools, 13 onsite restaurants, a 50,000-square-foot spa, salon and fitness center, and 150,000 square feet of meeting space — will be the Autograph Collection's first Las Vegas member property. Its membership in the collection will give the property access to Marriott's vast customer database, as well as its group and convention sales teams. Marriott loyalists, meanwhile, will be able to earn Marriott Rewards points for staying there, which the resort hopes will attract additional guests.

"This opportunity creates a powerful partnership for The Cosmopolitan and the Autograph Collection by aligning interests, broadening market share and driving growth," The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas CEO John Unwin said in a statement. "This platform enables us to build an iconic luxury brand at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip while simultaneously leveraging the 7th largest retail website in the world. The partnership also provides the Autograph Collection entry into the Las Vegas market."

Added Marriott Chair and CEO J.W. Marriott, Jr., "Marriott has been looking for some time for an iconic property in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and The Cosmopolitan exceeds our expectations for inspiring design, luxurious rooms and meeting space that will draw the world's top customers year-round. We're very excited to be working with The Cosmopolitan's ownership group and seasoned management team to raise the bar on the Las Vegas experience. Our new Autograph Collection delivers the power of our world-class sales engines while promoting the independence of The Cosmopolitan brand."

Marriott announced its new Autograph Collection in November and launched it with seven Kessler Collection hotels in January. For more information about the collection, visit
