Meeting and event venue developer Convene has announced a new flagship location developed in conjunction with The Durst Organization, adding roughly 36,000 square feet to its New York City portfolio. Located in Midtown Manhattan at 114 West 47th Street, the new venue will be capable of hosting up to 500 people across a broad range of room types. Its largest room, The Forum, will accommodate up to 320 people classroom-style and will be the biggest room in the Convene portfolio.
"We heard over and over again in the focus groups we conduct how difficult it is to find a great place for a 500-person meeting in Manhattan," says Chris Kelly, president and cofounder of Convene (pictured above). "We heard it enough times that we are now developing this venue. This entire facility is dedicated to hosting one group at a time."
Slated to open in September, the new venue will have its own entrance on West 46th Street and will offer a boutique café in the lobby.
Convene has two other New York City projects in the works: a facility at 780 Third Avenue, slated to open in May, and a facility at 237 Park Avenue, near Grand Central, set to open in June.
"We are also in conversation about new locations in Chicago, Boston, and New York," adds Kelly.
In February, Convene acquired meeting venue The Hub in Philadelphia.
