Charlotte Marriott Completes Renovations

The Charlotte Marriott SouthPark Hotel in Charlotte, N.C., has completed $3 million worth of renovations to its guest rooms, suites and meeting space, it recently announced.

Upgrades to the 195-room hotel focus primarily on decor and technology, the hotel said. Guest rooms, for instance, were outfitted with iPod alarm clocks and with Marriott's Plug In Play console, which enables guests to connect their laptop computers, MP3 players, digital cameras and more to their room's 32-inch flat screen HDTV.

"The technology features in each guest room have added a new element to our already classic sophisticated guest room," General Manager Michele Pajot said in a statement.

The hotel's 8,750 square feet of meeting space, including its 12 separate meeting rooms, was remodeled and updated with new decor to match the hotel's European and Southern themes. Its 24-hour fitness center, meanwhile, was updated with new fitness equipment, including new treadmills, stationary bikes and elliptical machines—all featuring entertainment screens and iPod docking stations.

A final stage of planned renovations at the Charlotte Marriott SouthPark will include upgrades to the hotel lobby, lounge and restaurant.
