Carlson Hotels Opens Renovated Riverside Radisson in Rochester

Following a $6.5 million brand conversion, a new Radisson hotel has opened in Rochester, N.Y., Carlson Hotels Worldwide announced last week. Located on the banks of the Genesee River in downtown Rochester, the new hotel—formerly the Rochester Clarion Riverside—has 460 rooms and, together with the adjacent Rochester Riverside Convention Center, over 30,000 square feet of meeting space.

"We are delighted that the Radisson brand now includes Rochester's largest conference center and hotel, which has the distinction of hosting many of the city's top events," said Fredrik Korallus, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Radisson Hotels & Resorts. "We're confident that the extensive renovations to the property [...] will provide both guests and the community with a vibrant hospitality experience that they'll value."

As part of its conversion from a Clarion to a Radisson, the downtown Rochester hotel has enhanced its guest rooms with new decor, bedding and technology, including high-definition televisions and wireless high-speed Internet access.

Meanwhile, it's outfitted its 8,122-square-foot Grand Ballroom—one of three ballrooms and 12 meeting rooms located within the hotel—with new ceilings designed to enhance the venue's ambience and acoustics.

"The conversion to the Radisson brand further advances our goal of being the premier lodging facility in Rochester," General Manager Richard Bair said in a statement. "The Radisson brand favorably positions this hotel for generating new business opportunities. We continue to be the hotel where Rochester hospitality shines the brightest—and now we are $6.5 million brighter."
