The former Avia Savannah in historic downtown Savannah, Ga., is now the Andaz Savannah hotel, Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced last week.
The hotel, which has 151 guest rooms and 5,000 square feet of meeting space, has just completed a renovation of its public areas to bring them in line with Andaz brand standards. The renovations included the addition of a new lounge and a new restaurant.
The hotel, which also includes a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor terrace and a cabana-lined pool, plans to host rotating art shows featuring local artists in support of Savannah's thriving art scene.
"We look forward to welcoming guests from the community and around the world to experience the dynamic 'home away from home' southern hospitality of Andaz Savannah," said General Manager Pedro Perez. "With a fabulous location across from Ellis Square, the hotel offers an upscale, yet relaxed atmosphere that reflects the unique heritage of this historic city."
Hyatt's newest brand, Andaz is devoted to "simplified, spot-on service and indulgent amenities." Andaz Savannah is the eighth Andaz hotel to open, behind Andaz 5th Avenue and Andaz Wall Street in New York; Andaz Napa, Andaz San Diego and Andaz West Hollywood in California; Andaz Liverpool Street in London; and Andaz Shanghai in China.
