Atlanta Seeks Increase in Convention Business

The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) wants to increase the city's convention business by 7 percent next year, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported this month.

According to the Chronicle, ACVB has set a goal of booking 1.85 million group room nights in 2011 and hitting 100 percent attendance for each of the 16 citywide conventions taking place in Atlanta next year.

"That's an aggressive goal," ACVB President and CEO William Pate told the Chronicle. "We think we can make it."

This year, ACVB booked approximately 1.7 million group room nights, which was up 33 percent from 2009. Its 2011 goal is the third-highest goal in the bureau's history.
