Munich is buzzing with new builds and has some
fabulous cultural events slated for the year ahead.
Bavaria is known for its gorgeous Alpine vistas and wide
variety of sausages, and there's nowhere better than Munich to
get a taste of both. The last decade has seen a flurry of new
hotels spring up near the Neue Messe Munchen, the city's vast
convention center.
The 484-room Hilton Munich Park (pictured at right)debuted an
extensive renovation last year. The top-floor Marco Polo event
space was refitted with new carpet and redecorated in a neutral
palette. Guestrooms now feature leather-wrapped headboards and
wool rugs, as well as Bavarian-inspired walnut credenzas. The
hotel's lobby was completely redesigned and the hotel bar now
boasts new carpet, bespoke wall coverings, and new chairs. The
Hilton Munich Park has 40,000 square feet of meeting and event
space.
In late 2011, Europe's very first Residence Inn opened in
Munich. The 125-room Residence Inn Munich City East is located
in the city's Haidhausen District and features full kitchens in
each suite, as well as a bar in the hotel's public area. The
hotel has a 183-square-foot boardroom available.
For a larger group, consider the 255-room Dolce Munich
Unterschleissheim Hotel, which opened in the spring of 2010.
The hotel has 18,000 square feet of meeting space and is
located next to the Dolce BallhausForum conference center.
Later this year, the State Museum of Egyptian Art will open in
a new building, and its exhibition space will nearly triple.
