Citing the need to recover from recent losses topping $100 million from meeting cancellations, the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau in Scottsdale, Ariz., has introduced a new group incentive program that's designed to showcase the city as an affordable meeting destination.
Called Scottsdale's Room Rate Challenge, the program allows meeting planners to submit a proposal to the Scottsdale CVB from any hotel or resort from across the United States, Canada or the Caribbean, provided it's outside of Arizona's Maricopa County. Upon receiving the proposal, the CVB will work with comparable Scottsdale properties in order to meet or beat the contract's room rate, dates, meeting space and room night requirements.
Available for meetings booked and actualized in Scottsdale through March 31, 2010, the Room Rate Challenge encompasses a total of 40 hotels.
