The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel in southwest Florida is offering two incentives—a 5 percent credit off total actualized room revenue and a charitable donation that offsets your meeting's carbon footprint—for planners who book meetings at local hotels and resorts in 2009.
"We offered these incentives during 2008 and received a positive response," said Suya Davenport, executive director of the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB), which markets The Beaches. "So we're extending the offers through 2009 to send a clear message to the industry that we welcome meetings business and are fully prepared to meet planners' needs."
Available to groups meeting at local properties between June 1 and Dec. 15, 2009, the 5 percent credit is applicable towards an evening reception and requires planners to book at least 25 rooms per night for three or more consecutive nights prior to Aug. 1, 2009.
The carbon offset, meanwhile, is available for all meetings, regardless of size or schedule. It includes a donation by the VCB to The Conservation Fund's Go Zero program in the amount of 100 percent of the cost of offsetting the CO2 emissions that result from any event taking place at The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel, which offers a total of 256,129 square feet of meeting space across several hotels and resorts.
