International House, a 119-room boutique hotel in New Orleans' business district, has announced a meeting package designed to benefit both groups and communities. The package, which was created to encourage volunteerism in post-Katrina New Orleans, includes complimentary use of meeting facilities and discounted room rates for groups who spend at least one day doing volunteer work in the Big Easy.
Specifically, International House will give groups of six or more complimentary meeting space, complimentary morning coffee and a discounted room rate of $119 per night when they spend just one day volunteering together for one of the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau's so-called "Voluntourism" organizations. Among those organizations: Make it Right, Habitat for Humanity, Operation Kids/Brees Dream Foundation, Katrinacorps, St. Bernard Project, Bayou Rebirth, Green Light New Orleans, Hands on New Orleans, City Park, Catholic Charities and Beacon of Hope, among others.
The International House's reduced room rates are valid through Dec. 31, 2008, with the exception of Oct. 17-18, 24-25, and 31; Nov. 1, 8-11; and Dec. 5-7, 12-13, and 31.
