MEETING PACKAGE: Charlotte Convention Center Offers Free Meeting Space for Public Companies

To help them offset the costs of meeting in a down economy, the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C., is offering public companies complimentary meeting space for their annual board meetings and recognition events, the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) announced last week.

"We recognize the call for saving costs when meeting with customers, organization members or employees, and we are also acutely aware of the great overall importance to continue having meetings now and in the future," CRVA CEO Tim Newman said in a statement. "According to leaders throughout the country, meeting personally with clients and employees makes even more sense now than ever [because] communicating and conversing leads to better team interaction and focus."

In order to receive complimentary meeting space at the Charlotte Convention Center— which is operated and managed by the CRVA, and which has over 280,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, a 35,000-square-foot ballroom and over 90,000 square feet of meeting space—companies must be publicly held and meeting before the end of 2009.

For more information, including restrictions and conditions, companies should contact CRVA Senior Director of Sales Jeff Hewitt at 1-704-331-2719 or jeff.hewitt@visitcharlotte.com.
