Milwaukee's Marcus Hotels Plans Two Wisconsin Renovations

Milwaukee-based Marcus Hotels and Resorts, which owns or manages 20 hotels in 10 states, has announced renovations at two of its Wisconsin properties, the Hilton Milwaukee City Center in Milwaukee and the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva. Scheduled for completion this summer, the renovations together will total approximately $30 million and encompass a combined 1,085 guest rooms.

"Maintaining our assets has always been a top priority for Marcus Hotels and Resorts," Marcus Hotels and Resorts President Bill Otto said in a statement. "Despite lower occupancy due to the downturn in the travel industry, we are continuing to invest in enhancing and remodeling our existing properties so they will remain well-positioned for the future. By beginning these renovations immediately, we will be able to provide a significantly enhanced experience for our guests in time for our upcoming peak summer season."

At the 730-room Hilton Milwaukee City Center, guest room renovations will include the addition of new high-definition LCD televisions, bedding, carpeting, furniture and artwork.

At the 355-room Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, meanwhile, guest room renovations will include the installation of new carpeting, drapery, bedding and furniture, as well as new bathrooms that will be remodeled with new fixtures, vanities, marble flooring, lighting, wet bars and mirrors, which themselves will be outfitted with built-in TVs that disappear into the mirror when they're turned off.

Other renovations will include the Hilton's lobby, which will receive new flooring and furnishings, and the Grand Geneva's exterior pool and spa.

Later this year, renovations at the Hilton will enter a second phase that will encompass the property's meeting rooms, restaurants, gift shop and exterior elements.

"We believe our guests will be very pleased with the new look and amenities in both of these exceptional properties," Otto said.
