San Francisco-based hotelier Joie de Vivre will open its first ski hotel next month in South Lake Tahoe, CA, it announced yesterday.
The hotel is the result of combining two existing properties, the Park Tahoe Inn and 968 Park Tahoe. Named Hotel Becket -- from the "becket knot," a nautical term for tying two ropes into one -- the merged hotel will have 167 guest rooms, an onsite restaurant serving Southern barbecue, an indoor-outdoor bar, an outdoor terrace with games and fire pits, and 1,000 square feet of meeting space.
Additionally, the pet-friendly hotel will have a resident pooch, a Bernese Mountain dog named Remington, who will be available for walks in the snow or hikes in the summertime as part of the property's "Borrow a Bernese" program.
The hotel is located across the street from Heavenly Village, 4,800 acres of skiing and snowboarding, and will offer a ski concierge and après-ski activities.
"It takes a creative vision to merge two hotels into one," said general manager Gregg Harper. "We're not only physically merging the properties but we are connecting our guests through unique services and programming. Plus, with one of the best locations in South Lake Tahoe, guests can walk to the slopes, the lake, the shops of Heavenly Village, casinos, and more."
