Work will begin later this year on a new Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel in Homewood, Ala., near Birmingham, Hilton Hotels announced last week. The hotel, which is currently scheduled to open in 2011, will have five stories, 94 suites, a fitness center, an outdoor pool and 1,000 square feet of meeting space.
"We are excited to develop a quality extended-stay hotel at an excellent location just minutes from downtown," said Chiman S. Patel, the new hotel's owner. "Our suites will offer both leisure and business travelers a spacious room at an exceptional value."
The Homewood Suites in Homewood will be Alabama's ninth Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel; the brand already has existing hotels in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, Daphne and Montgomery, and three others currently under construction, two more in Birmingham and one more in Mobile.
"Homewood is thrilled to further increase our footprint in the Birmingham region and continue our expansion in the state of Alabama," said Bill Duncan, global head, brand management, Homewood Suites by Hilton. "In times of economic uncertainty, travelers are turning to brands they can trust and those that offer real value."
