If you're looking to unlock a better work/life balance, the key might be right under your nose. Or rather, right under your pillow.
"Sleep is critical for high performance," says Entrepreneur.com contributor James Swanwick. "Deep down, everybody knows this. But, it tends to be the first thing neglected during busy, high-stress periods."
The better you sleep, science shows, the more efficient you are. And the more efficient you are, the more balanced your life will become.
Of course, getting a good night's sleep is easier said than done. Knowing a few secrets to good sleep hygiene, however, can tip the sandman's scales in your favor.
One such secret is complete darkness, according to Swanwick. "Humans sleep deeper in a dark environment," he says. "Having any light sources in your bedroom can disrupt your sleep patterns, so eliminate your alarm clock if it has a digital screen, or get an alarm clock with a dimmer. Put black electrical tape over bright LEDs. Get blackout roller blinds. Attach blackout material with fasteners to windows, or wear a sleep mask."
Also, don't forget to take your vitamins. "Magnesium is an anti-stress mineral, which can improve your sleep quality," Swanwick continues. "Magnesium deficiencies are the second-most common deficiency in developed countries and can lead to insomnia. Your body easily absorbs magnesium glycinate (obtainable from any supplement aisle). Magnesium spray is a popular option, or you can take an Epsom salt bath."More Tips:https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/292521Questions, Comments, Suggestions?Contact Successful Meetings Editor in Chief Vincent Alonzo with your "How To" ideas.
