The numbers are in: Buyers at the second annual IMEX America trade show placed, or expect to place, $3.3 billion in business that was generated on the exhibit floor — up 17.5 percent from $2.8 billion in 2011 — the IMEX Group reported yesterday

IMEX America 2012 took place Oct. 9-11 in Las Vegas and attracted 8,312 total participants, including:

• More than 2,400 hosted buyers from 45 countries;
• 2,413 exhibiting companies from 148 countries; and
• 1,743 buyer attendees from 45 countries.

Collectively, buyers made 38,000 individual appointments with exhibitors.

"This is a firm endorsement of the high quality of buyers we attracted this year and proof, if any were needed, that the show delivers real business value and produces positive results for many months afterwards," said IMEX Group Chairman Ray Bloom. "It's clear from this data that IMEX America is delivering on its promise of providing an active, high-quality global marketplace in which the meetings, events and incentive travel industry in North America can meet and do business. In the context of ongoing economic challenges in many parts of the world these figures are welcome and positive news all round."
