Meetings technology company Cvent has joined Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) as an "Alliance Partner," DMAI announced last week. According to the organization, Cvent will provide education to meeting professionals and promote destination marketing organizations (DMOs) as "the best, first point of contact" to find meeting venues.For a recap of last week's top stories, check out MeetingNews Minute:
"DMAI is always looking for ways to support the meetings community, to advocate for the DMO value proposition and to connect meeting professionals directly to DMO destination experts," said DMAI President and CEO Michael Gehrisch. "We are extremely proud to partner on these efforts with Cvent, which has a proven track record of providing innovative solutions for the meetings industry."
As part of its DMAI membership, Cvent has integrated content from DMAI's empowerMINT website — a website that enables meeting planners to search and compare destination profiles, including hotels, convention facilities and DMO services — into its complimentary "Destination Guide" for meeting professionals. According to DMAI, this integration helps meeting professionals expedite research in advance of the RFP process.
Speaking of which: Cvent also has added a new feature to the RFP process for meeting planners using its Supplier Network, encouraging them to add DMOs and CVBs every time they send an RFP to a particular destination.
"With a comprehensive view of the destination, local knowledge and extensive in-market relationships, DMO destination experts provide the inside track into a destination, which can make the difference in a planner's ability to deliver on specific meeting needs," Gehrisch said. "Now these experts can be found with Cvent's online 'Destination Guide,' making it easier for planners to find and tap into the incomparable local expertise that only DMOs have on their respective destinations."
