Briggs, an AlliedPRA Company,
honored individuals from four New York City-based companies with its June Briggs Awards for Destination Management Excellence on Jan. 22. The award honors New York City businesses and persons that have excelled in service and performance in the destination management and hospitality fields.
The awards were given out during a gathering at the TriBeCa Rooftop
in Lower Manhattan. Two Broadway stars performed songs from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story
musical while champagne flowed as the more than two hundred guests looked out over the Manhattan skyline. Two other special stars were on hand: June Briggs, who founded the company in 1982, and Tony Lorenz, CEO of AlliedPRA.
The 16th Annual June Briggs Awards winners are: Jeff Calmus, vice president of Metlife Global Event Management; Fred Dixon, CEO of NYC & Company
; William Ke, managing partner of Cloud Catering
; as well as Penny Kaplan, director of catering and Joanne DeSanits, national manager, travel industry sales of Alicart Restaurant Group
"What all these winners have in common is their meetings, events, and experiences have a significant economic impact on New York theaters, hotels, restaurants, retail, and transportation and so we all celebrate in this success," said Briggs President Anthony Napoli.
Past recipients of the June Briggs Awards include Tavern on the Green, The Cipriani Group, Great Performances, The '21' Club, Tao Group, The Four Seasons Hotel, Remi Restaurant, Bermuda Limousine, Academy Motorcoach, St. Regis Hotel, Zagat, New York Marriott Marquis, The Patina Group, and Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids.
