The Green Meetings Industry Council (GMIC) has selected ATIV Software to provide a mobile app for its 2013 Sustainable Meetings Conference, taking place April 7-10 in Chicago, ATIV announced last week.

The app, powered by ATIV’s EventPilot platform, will for the first time give GMIC attendees the ability to not only access presentation slides during education sessions, but also take notes directly on the slides within the app.

"The conference attendees look at this event as the leader in producing sustainable events," says Greg Andrade, director of operations at Signal Event Group, which managed GMIC’s vendor selection process. "We need to demonstrate the best when it comes to advancing sustainability in the meetings industry. EventPilot is an ideal technological solution to maximize attendee engagement while minimizing the conference footprint."

Because EventPilot is a native app — an app that lives on the user’s smartphone — note-taking does not require Internet access within the meeting room. When the user acquires an Internet connection, however, he or she will be able to tweet slides to their network of Twitter followers, and will receive an automated email report from the app containing their notes along with slide thumbnails for future reference.

"EventPilot is designed not just as a digital conference program but as a productivity and learning tool," says ATIV Software CEO and Co-Founder Silke Fleischer. "The powerful combination of offline access, personalization and native navigation will give GMIC attendees a truly sustainable experience."
