Next spring, Southwest Airlines will commence service to Branson, Mo., the self-proclaimed "Live Music Show Capital of the World," the Branson/Lakes Area Convention and Visitors Bureau reported yesterday.

Beginning March 9, 2013, Southwest will offer daily nonstop flights between Branson and three destinations — Dallas, Houston Hobby and Chicago Midway — and Saturday-only service between Branson and Orlando.

Originally announced by Southwest in August, the new service makes Branson the 79th destination on the low-fare carrier's route map.

"Southwest Airlines is proud to bring low fares, great customer service and our red-bellied 737s to Branson," said Bob Montgomery, Southwest Airlines' vice president of airport affairs. "We are looking forward to serving the community and offering more new destinations to Branson customers."
