Some cities were made for work. Others, for play. Although meeting planners often host events in the former, the latter can be an ideal choice for groups in need of a little fun. Just ask MasterCard, which recently published its list of the "Top Cities Where People Go to Play, Not Work." Here are the top 10, each of which in 2017 attracted more than 90 percent of its overnight visitors for leisure purposes:

10. Phuket, Thailand (93 percent)

9. Orlando, Fla. (94.1 percent)

8. Panama City, Panama (96.3 percent)

7. Bali, Indonesia (96.7 percent)

6. Cancun, Mexico (96.8 percent)

5. Palma de Mallorca, Spain (97.2 percent)

4. Riviera Maya, Mexico (97.5 percent)

3. Djerba, Tunisia (97.7 percent)

2. Cusco, Peru (98 percent)
