"Creativity is a desirable and necessary element for a thriving community," according to Southern Methodist University's National Center for Arts Research (NCAR), which every year ranks the top U.S. cities for "arts vibrancy" based on per-capita demand, supply, and public support for arts and culture. The top 10 communities on its list -- whose artistic assets make them vibrant places to not only live, but also meet -- are:
